The construction of Ilyichevsk sea fishing port was started in 1968. The water area of the port was formed by deepening  the Sukhoy estuary and making an approach canal through the sand spit which separates the estuary from the Black sea. The first ship entered the port in 1971. Before 1996 Ilyichevsk sea fishing port  was used mainly for the transshipment of food cargoes (as a rule, fish products). This is connected with the fact that Ilyichevsk sea fishing port  was initially founded for servicing the fish processing whaling flotillas of the “Antarctic” enterprise. And, correspondingly, the infrastructure of the port was designed for transshipping the sea fishery products.
    The privatization of the “Antarctica” enterprise in the beginning of 1996 against the background of the worldwide activation in the market of transportation services was the critical factor which allowed to create the conditions for satisfying the demands which arose at the crucial moment of  economic development of the country. The changes of internal and external factors generated the tasks of handling grain cargoes, metal products, general cargoes which were absolutely new for the fishing port.
At present Ilyichevsk sea fishing port  handles any type of cargoes and is available for all.

Total square area is 40,0 ha.
Depth in the pool is 14,5 meters.
Berth depth is 11,0 m, allows to operate the ships of practically any carrying capacity. Expected depth after reconstruction is 14.5 meters.
Total berth length up to 1200 meters.
The length of the mooring line at the port equals up to 1200 m. Ten deep-water berths are equipped with sixteen portal cranes with lifting capacity from 3 to 32 tons.
    Ilyichevsk sea fishing port is connected with main lines of Ukraine and CIS countries by railways and motor roads and it has a railway branch line which connects it with the ferry complex Ilyichevsk – Varna. The nearest railway station Ilyichevsk-Ferry  is situated at the distance of 5 km from the port territory. The daily  capacity of the railway branch line is about 180 railway cars. The capacity of the station is 400 cars.
    The port is open for ships all year round. The port facilities allow to handle more than 1,5 million tons of cargoes per year.
    Specialized  transshipment complexes of the port are equipped with modern equipment, transshipment machinery and  mechanisms  which ensure handling of any cargoes with high productivity and according to the latest technologies.
    Ilyichevsk sea fishing port renders services for transshipment and storage of any types of cargoes (specialized warehouses for storage of frozen products, citrus fruits  and bananas, general cargo, metal products), customs and broker services.
    Loading and unloading works are carried out with permanent increase of the norms of loading, at the same time keeping the quality and safety of works.
